  The Hartford is incredibly deceptive and makes it unbelievably difficult to cancel their auto policies for elderly drivers. I canceled my 87 year mother's policy over the phone and by mail, but they still threatened to put her in collection for the policy renewal amount even though we had switched to Progressive. I then had Progressive Insurance fax a copy of her new policy's declaration page to The Hartford, but they still sent another threatening letter 5 weeks later.
  Only when when I demanded to speak to a manager did the balance somehow disappear??
  Stay away from this company!

  The Hartford may cost a bit more then other insurance companies but their service on auto repairs or home damage is excellent. I am a member since 1987 for both auto & home coverage. Their is truth in the saying "You get what you pay for". With The Hartford their is no delays in claims repairs or claims payments.
